Recently Recorded: (songs are ~ 4 meg mp3s)
"Smoking Is Ugly" by Carl Creighton This is a song off Carl's album "Minnesota" and we're big fans. It was recorded and mixed over the winter in Studio A, in just six consecutive days. Basic tracks were recorded on the 3M 16 track and dumped to Pro Tools for overdubs and mixing. This band rules. This song is from their debut full length, War Dreams, which was recorded last year in Studio A and B using only our analog 16 tracks. There was a LOT of bouncing to make the track count work. Mixing was FUN!
"Spooky" by Gabriella Lyn Gabriella spent two weeks here in July making her first album with Mitch Rackin behind the board. Work entailed five days of tracking to tape in studio A, five days in Studio B doing overdubs and vocals in Pro Tools, and five more days of mixing in studio A. We really liked this version of Spooky. We also love our BX10 spring reverbs.
"AWOL" by The Wingdale Community Singers Patrick worked with this group last winter in Studio A using a mix of tape and Pro Tools. Tracking was done live to tape and the horns and mixing occurred in Pro Tools. This song is off their new album Spirit Duplicator which we are eagerly awaiting to be released.
"Can't See Thru" by Heavy Hands Our own Mitch Rackin brought his psychedelic power trio to Seaside last year, and the result is Smoke Signals, which comes out October 21st on Language of Stone. Charles recorded the basic tracks, and Mitch took over from there.
"Trancendental Lunch" by Federale Culled from Federale's self titled debut. These guys are LOUD, but somehow all the basic tracks were recorded live in Studio A without any isolation or headphones to one of our Otari MX5050 1/2" 8-tracks. Overdubs were done in Pro Tools and mixes were printed to the 1/4" Ampex 440B mastering deck. |
